FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What counts as "frequent" infections?

There's no single number that applies to everyone — it depends on the type of infection, your age, and your overall pattern. If infections feel more frequent or severe than seems typical for you, it's worth an evaluation.

Is this the same as being immunocompromised from a known condition?

Not necessarily. Immune deficiency can be an underlying condition itself, separate from immune suppression caused by other treatments or illnesses — evaluation helps sort out which applies to you.

What does testing involve?

Typically a detailed history along with blood tests that look at different parts of your immune system. We'll explain what we're checking and why.

Do you treat immune deficiency, or refer out?

We evaluate and build a plan with you, and coordinate with other specialists when your specific situation calls for it.
